Here are some of the upcoming neighborhood happenings starting Wednesday.

Wednesday, January 25: Kids Story Hour at Porter Square Books (50 Liberty Drive) at 4pm.

Wednesday, January 25: Mayor Wu's State of the City at 7pm. Watch live at Boston.gov.

Thursday, January 26: Public Meeting on Inclusionary Development Policy Zoning Amendment at 6pm.  This meeting is about changes to the policies about how much private residential developers must contribute to income-restricted housing through the creation of on-site income-restricted housing units, off-site units near the project or by paying into a fund for the creation of income-restricted units elsewhere. View presentation. This meeting was also held on January 21st.

Friday, January 27: Coffee Hour with Mayor Wu's Director of the Office of Neighborhood Services, Enrique Pepen, from 9am to 10:30am at Cafe Nero, 368 Congress St. Come by to ask a question or share a concern. 

Saturday, January 28: Magenta: Extraspectral Color Opening Reception from 3pm - 6pm at FPAC's Assemblage Art Space at The Envoy, 70 Sleeper Street. This art exhibition focuses on using magenta paint on two dimensional surfaces, playing with the idea of color representation and cognition.

January 27 - January 29: Yankee Dental Congress at the BCEC with 28,000 visitors expected daily from 8am - 5pm. View BCEC Yankee Dental transportation plan.

January 31: FPNA Fort Point Seaport Neighborhood Gathering at 6pm with special guest City Of Boston Chief of Planning and BPDA Director Arthur Jemison. 

February 1: Comment deadline for proposed Linkage and Lab Uses Zoning Updates, which includes lab zoning changes and an increase of linkage rate including for labs. Linkage is the fee commercial developers must contribute to the City for the purpose of creating income-restricted housing and supporting workforce training. View proposed zoning text, meeting recording, presentation and Q&A on the BPDA webpage along the right hand side.

February 2: Sleeper Street Tree Removal Hearing at 10am. A request from the Boston Public Works Department for the removal of four honey locust trees measuring 2.5 to 3 inches dbh (diameter at breast height) at 30 Sleeper Street in the Fort Point Channel Historic neighborhood for the installation of a new crosswalk in front of Martin’s Park. (new addition)

Fort Point Channel Operations Board Annual Meeting January 18th

The Fort Point Channel Operations Board will be having their annual meeting on Wednesday, January 18, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Fort Point Room on the  2nd floor of Atlantic Wharf, 290 Congress Street. 

In addition to the standard annual reports, there will be an overview of the requested changes to Atlantic Wharf's Chapter 91 license that removes the Fort Point room and relocates other FPA spaces within this Special Destination Facilities of Public Accomdation. View the request to MassDEP,

Jan 9: MassDEP Waterways ICA Draft Management Plan Public Meeting at 6PM. View draft management plan, which correlates to their Chapter 91 license #9951. The meeting will be held via zoom. Public comment deadline is January 23, 2023.

Traffic Advisory: Lane Reduction on Congress Street Friday 1/6 through Monday 1/9

A Traffic Advisory from the Seaport TMA
Please be advised that starting Friday 1/6 through the early morning of Monday 1/9, Congress Street in the Seaport will be temporarily reduced to one lane in each direction for one block between Boston Wharf Road and Pier Four Boulevard. Pedestrian access will be maintained on the north side of Congress Street.

Timing: Congress Street Lane Reduction: Friday 1/6 11:59 p.m. to Monday 1/9 5:00 a.m.

Purpose: This lane reduction is to accommodate for the removal of a tower crane as part of the ongoing 400 Summer Street construction. The workzone will be restored to its current condition by 5 a.m. on Monday 1/9.
