Why Is There A Barge In The Fort Point Channel?

As you traverse the Summer Street bridge toward Melcher Street and the adjoining Harborwalk, you may notice a large barge with steel columns. The crew is working to repair and rehabilitate the existing seawalls along 250 and 253 Summer Street. The project will fortify the existing concrete foundation supporting the seawall along 253 Summer Street and the Harborwalk along 250 Summer Street.The granite stones along the existing seawall will also be re-pointed as part of the project. Expect some detours to this part of Harborwalk until the work is complete.
